Holiday gifting can be tough. Whether it’s a gift exchange, Dirty Santa, or a gift for a close friend, it can be challenging to find the “perfect” gift. Plus, you want that gift to be meaningful and thoughtful. Oftentimes, searching for a meaningful gift means that you’ll have to sacrifice that $30 budget that you set for yourself.

What if we told you that we knew of a gift that was meaningful and under $30? Enter, Carrie Pittman and her beautiful, glass ornaments.

Carrie is a local artist in Birmingham, Alabama who has made it her mission to give back to those who really need it during the holidays. Last year, Carrie decided it was time to use her talents to raise money for Children’s of Alabama by doing what she loved– art. The proceeds from all of her holiday ornament sales go directly to Children’s of Alabama.

Carrie hand paints each of her ornaments and uses mediums like feathers and metallic branches to add a bit of dazzle. The beauty of her artwork is that no two ornaments are exactly alike. Once hung on the tree, they mingle well with other ornaments and truly capture that holiday spirit.

Unfortunately, not all children will get to experience the holidays at home this year. At a time when being at home with family is the most important, it’s hard to imagine spending Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years in a hospital.

That’s why Carrie felt this time of the year was the perfect time to support a hospital in the Birmingham area that is always creating new and innovative ways to make children feel more at home. Window washing at Children’s of Alabama is turned into a superhero visit, and children are surrounded by teddy bears before their MRI scans.

Carrie has an online shop where you can purchase these gorgeous ornaments and have them shipped right to your door. Or, if you are a Birmingham local, Carrie will have a pop-up shop in Homewood, Alabama, located at 1825 A 29th Avenue South. The pop-up will be open November 11, 2019 thru December 20, 2019.

Individualized, hand-painted ornaments are a great holiday gift to show that you care. And, knowing that each purchase is a donation to Children’s of Alabama is a cherry right on top. You can read all about the stories of the children at Children’s of Alabama that these proceeds benefit here.
